Analysis of Hallway art

This art piece was made in 1984 and possibly by Pal Sgir and it tells an abstract art story about the flow of something breaking out into a much vaster and unknown world. The piece also had a hidden text that at first was difficult to decipher but then slowly revealed an interesting yet Inspiring treat. It starts with a random jumble of words then, “The Blossoming treat now you see it now you the treat from on and abstract you in the cherry” and the bottom text says “Terrifying all symbols are abstraction as all art involving symbols is abstract”, then end with the alphabet repeated twice. The first quote seems to reward the reader for slowly understanding the words that they are reading and the second one gives a deeper insight on the meaning of abstract art.

The artist tries to explain how all symbols that we don’t understand are just abstract art with a deeper meaning which they show in their art piece. I like how the artist’s words are also parallel to the image as it shows a closed-off section, a section breaking out of its cage then a random section. This is parallel as how the closed of section represents the scramble before the text, then the middle represents the hidden message and the last section represents the slow regression to the alphabetical order.

Finding the secret significance of this artwork was quite fascinating since, despite its initial dull appearance, it gradually makes you wonder what really matters and what doesn’t. I believe the artist wanted the audience to understand that abstract art can have meaning even when it doesn’t appear to. I think this piece tells a story of the progression of ideas as they slowly progress into something meaning and eventually become anything our minds desire them to be which is similar to how abstract art is as it can be interpreted in different ways.

  1. I loved the analysis that you made upon the piece of art for from 1984 that’s very intriguing. For instance when you mention the hidden text revealing the rewarding “blossoming treat”. My question is, How does abstract art inspire your interpretation of art?

    1. This is a pretty good question. I guess Abstract art kind of inspires my interpretation in the sense that whatever I feel or see in the art piece isn’t generically wrong or right. It gives me more room to explore different ideas of what the art piece might be compared to one singular answer.

  2. Art is amazing because there is always more than one meaning. Art is always up to the viewers interpretation. This work of art has me stumped. I just look and look trying to decipher the meaning.

  3. the painting is both beautiful and breathtaking. I love that there is somewhat of a story behind the painting but you can also make an interpretation to the painting.
