Final Project

English has never been my favorite subject, but this class changed my perspective on it—especially on writing. I’ve never been the kind of person who chose writing over math, and I still don’t, but writing is a valuable skill that can occasionally be enjoyable. Though I still have space for development, my writing has improved. Although I’m not where I want to be, I am unquestionably improving. My goal is to expand my vocabulary and develop a more complex language.

My narrative is one written work of which I am very proud. Because it was about my life, writing it was quite simple. Being able to express my emotions through my writing made it enjoyable to write as well. My story, which focused on four of my best friends, caused me to consider my relationships with each of them individually. On the contrary, I had difficulty writing the literacy analysis.

Because it was more of an academic work, it was more difficult to write. I never did very well on academic papers in the past. In the end, it came out sounding like a high school student attempting to seem intelligent, even though my goal was to sound like a professional writer who was an expert on the subject. Another goal of mine is to improve as a writer of academic articles, with a focus on literacy analysis.

At the end of it all I enjoyed English 2100 with Professor Perry. I don’t want to be a suck-up because she told us it wouldn’t earn us any extra points, but I was truly grateful to have her as my professor my first semester. The transition from high school to college was made easier for me. I only hope I meet more professors like Professor Perry.
