7 Day Journal

Day 1. When I first heard about this project, I wasn’t too excited. Making a profile for Wikipedia made me feel weird. Especially since we’re always told to avoid it. But then, I found out about Women in Red, and it started to make sense. Sadly, even though a lot of time has passed, there are still places where women aren’t treated fairly. When I heard that profiles made by women were being targeted, I decided I was going to pick a really unique/what type of username.

Day 2. Today I made my username and I went with BuddyYKanuto as my username. Simply because it’s just like um okay who are you? I hope it doesn’t sound feminine to avoid any automatic biases.

Day 3. Now I am currently struggling with picking someone. All the articles being given are really scarce for everyone. All the womens names either have 1 or no articles or I just can’t find them.

Day 4. I am looking at the activists page and wow! There are a ton of names. I’m having such a hard time choosing. But honestly i think i might base it off on my home country or a country i aspire to go to which is Japan. I know the whole world suffers from misogyny but I feel like these two in particular to me suffer the most. Hence why I am going to focus on these two.

Day 5. So I’ve been looking through multiple pages of the Woman in Red and I’ve now become overwhelmed because I can’t find one to stick to. I see nothing on anyone and it’s honestly frustrating because these are strong/smart/independent individuals that it’s like HOW they are not spoken about.

Day 6. I came across a political activist named Sadayo Tatewaki. Just like the others there was hardly anything but there was definitely a lot more of something than the others. Again it’s definitely really frustrating because how can i write about a person that doesn’t “exist” in the articles when they’ve done a lot.

Day 7. I found a book that had her name/ background story which brightened my eyes because finally I found something. But it is extensive so I’m going to have to read really thoroughly. I am really glad I found something. Side note I haven’t edited anyones WIki, I’m kinda scared but i’ll get to it.

  1. It is a unique 7-day log. I like the way you documented very small details because I feel like it speaks more to your complete experience than the simple details you found about your women in red. I also like the honesty with each day. It’s not easy to research someone who doesn’t have much info, and the genuineness and transparency make this a strong response.

  2. I really admire how you express your thoughts and feelings throughout the seven days. I can relate to the difficulty of picking a person out of the great women in the list. Also finding information about them has been quite a challenge.
