This was the first 3D project I have faced during my 3D class. At first I found this exercise complicated in a way because I did no have any background experience in this field. In my class, I was assigned to build a solid object that it is 3D printable. Before actually printing the object I had to get familiarize with the software that to be able to create an object. SketchUp is actually really easy to use, but it takes a bit time for somebody that has not experience to get used to.
The first object that I created using this software (SketchUp) is the picture. It is a simple cube, the challenged that I faced for this object was making sure all the sizes are the same size and that it was a solid, this means making an object that can exist in the real world. After making sure the cube was the size that I needed it to be, I took the next step which is to print it. My observation in this process is that it takes a lot of time to print an object. It depends on the size, for this cube I had to print it in a smaller scale.
Next, I made the castle. This object it is actually a combination of all the object my class have created. It might look simple, but it actually kind of challenging to accommodate all the desire objects on the same level as the other. What I found also found challenging was being able to rotate the object to make it reach my desire angle that I wanted it to be. Every time I would rotate the camera view and see that the object were not in the same level. My advised that I would give to anyone who is doing something similar is to actually take some time and explore the software that is going to be use to create the object. Another advice is make sure the object is a solid, because if it is not it won’t be printable.
