About Me

Hello! My name is Ana Canuto, I was born in the United States and my parents were both born in Mexico, making me a Mexican American.

You can say I am quite an introverted person but can also be extroverted as well, although I don’t show that part very often. Now I wish I had interesting things to say about myself but in all realness, there is not much to share, as I don’t tend to stay committed to many things I can do outside of school making it the reason why I don’t really have a hobby. Yeah, sad I know but I have tried to do things such as drawing, reading, photography, and playing the piano, which did not last more than a month but I did get to play at my eighth-grade graduation funny enough.

I do love listening to music and just about any music genre too… well of course except for country music because who really likes country music? but no hate to those who do by the way. Also, I am always in need of new music/songs so if anyone knows of any good music send it my way.

But other than that I am a student who can be very much independent of basically everything I do no matter what it is. I am also a massive procrastinator but always get my work done so that’s the main reason why I never stop. I have goals of becoming a real estate agent at the moment but later on, might want to become a real estate broker, but who knows. Not much to it honestly but that’s just a bit about myself and who I am.

    Benjamin response:
I really enjoyed your response to the text. I liked how you were able to effectively pull things from the text and thoroughly explain them in your own words. What stood out to me the most was how you explained the quote on pg. 20. I personally struggled with what the author was trying to convey when mentioning it. However, your response helped clarify most of what I questioned about it. I also liked how you briefly touched on how at times technological reproduction can reveal something that is not noticeable in the original. In general it puts into perspective how advanced technology has become overtime and its influence on art over the years. And just as you mentioned it does indeed express how as we continue to progress in technology and as that progression continues to move forward the original work is slowly becoming more“unattainable”. In terms of your question I do think that in the future technology would be the reason we end up forgetting how things were done before. Technology in general has had such a grand influence on our lives and the more advanced it becomes the bigger of an influence it has. For instance, as mentioned in class the way art is viewed has changed significantly due to technological progression. It seems as though we can simply search up an art piece to view it opposed to actually having to go to the art site and having to view with our own eyes. Even the way art is made has changed significantly considering we can easily use apps and websites to create it. So I do definitely see technology changing how we do things even more in the future. As for culture my personal opinion is that there isn’t that much of a change in it. I feel like tradition does continue however this doesn’t mean that technology has not had an influence on how it is gone about. Overall, your response was very well written and very instructive!

  3. Your response to the text was very insightful! I liked your method of analyzing the text. You broke it down in different parts, analyzed them individually, and connected it back to the thesis. This response helped me understand the Benjamin essay more because I was confused on some areas of the text but you were able to clarify some of them like how it will affect the culture of art. This provided a different perspective to me because I focused on the negative of things like losing its originality but your response focused on the positives for society and its development. You mentioned in your response the idea how modernizing a lot throughout time can be inevitable and I completely agree. I would add on to this by saying how a society usually tends to develop throughout time as their knowledge about different things grows, making them slowly modernize and develop their technology. To answer your question about technology I agree that technology will be the cause we end up forgetting things we’ve done before but not completely. I agree with this because as technology develops our habits change. For example, people no longer have to depend on libraries for their information since computer technology has an unlimited amount of information. It helped develop how we communicate with one another and it greatly changed the way people do things. However, there are some things that are kept alive. For instance, people have been producing plays since ancient times and until this day plays are a source of entertainment for people which is why I say not completely but of course technology has also played a role in them. Regarding your question on cultures I feel like cultures don’t change in the aspect of their values but technology can slowly affect some things about it throughout time. I enjoyed reading your insightful response and different perspectives. I took forward to reading more!
