Advanced Multimedia Reporting 2019

Very Rough Draft

A couple things before watching:

  1. I’m not sure  I put quotes in an order that makes sense to everyone. I’m still playing around with them.
  2. I need a LOT more B-roll.
  3. I decided to film outdoors, which was a mistake because of the wind and birds. I hope it’s not too distracting.
  4. I’m trying to come up with visuals to show while my interviewee is speaking. I have too much footage of protests and am trying to get creative with symbols but can’t think of much.

Algeria Protests

I’m not sure how I can execute this, but Algeria has never seen anything like what’s currently happening. They’re finally coming together to stop their current president from serving a fifth term. When I was covering a protest for the beat reporting exercise, people were so passionate and had so much to say. I feel like this could be a really informative project, I just can’t imagine having interesting shots. I hope I can come up with something different soon, but I do feel like this could still work.

Visual Poem

I want my visual poem to be of painting. I love colors and different textures, and my friend is an artist, so I want to get shots of her painting, of the paints, of her face and the emotions she goes through when putting something together. I want to get her painting multiple things, maybe like a montage or a time-lapse of different paintings and showing the different days and outfits. She is also a singer and I want it to feel calm, so maybe having her just hum a tune over the visual poem would be serene.
