Introduction to AIDS

Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a chronic and life-threatening condition caused by Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). HIV is a sexually transmitted disease (STD). If HIV doesn’t get treated with medication, then it progresses to AIDS. AIDS is the last stage of HIV infection, also known as stage 3 HIV. There is no cure available for this yet, but treatments can be use to prevent you from getting to the late-stage HIV infection.

The virus can be spread in numerous ways, but it is transferred through fluid contact. In order to obtain the virus, an infected person’s blood has to enter another person’s blood stream via cut or open wound.

If the virus isn’t treated soon, it can be dangerous and even life-threatening depending on the severity. The virus has numerous symptoms that leaves the infected person feeling weaker or uncomfortable. If left untreated, the HIV virus moves into the AIDS stage which is when your immune system is severely damaged rendering it almost completely useless which can lead to death.
