According to Mayo Clinic, AIDS is diagnosed in an HIV person when the CD4 T cell count falls below 200 or the patient has AIDS symptoms. HIV spreads through:

  • Sexual transmission
  • Blood transfusion
  • Perinatal transmission

Symptoms- According to Mayo Clinic, most patients with HIV don’t get AIDS because of the advanced treatment that we have. However, there are some unfortunate people in parts of the world that don’t have access to HIV treatment. As a result, the untreated HIV turns into AIDS. When AIDS occurs, the immune system has been severely damaged. Some symptoms of AIDS are:

  • Soaking night sweats
  • Recurring fever
  • Chronic diarrhea
  • White post on your mouth or tongue
  • Unexplained fatigue
  • Extreme weight loss
  • Skin rashes or bumps
  • Blurred vision
  • Dry cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Swollen glands
