Treatment

There is no cure for HIV/AIDS but there’s treatment to cope with the symptoms.

Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitors (NRTI) – drugs that interrupt the virus from duplicatingRelated image

Protease Inhibitors (PI) – drugs that interrupt virus replication at a later step in the virus life cycle

Fusion Inhibitor – drugs that act against HIV by preventing the virus from fusing with the inside of a cell, preventing it from replicating

Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) – a highly effective treatment use to slow the rate at which the HIV virus replicates itself, which may slow the spread of HIV in the body

Non-Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitors (NNRTI) – drugs that block the infection of new cells by HIVImage result for nnrtis from slideplayer

So far, there are side effects for using drugs that belong in both NRTIs and PIs.
