Reading 3
In the reading the quote that stuck out to me the most was that, “Everything is changing – you, your family, your neighborhood, your education, your job, your government, you relation to “the others.” And they’re changing dramatically.” Change is like a domino effect, everyone gets effected. “The others” alteration is the most interesting from all the other. As the author said, “too many people know too much about each other.” Today, in the world of social media one learns more about others from social media than by actually meeting them in person. Social media has cut down all the physical barriers in knowing one another. It is a good and a bad change at the same time. Where some people use social media as an opportunity to learn information, others misuse the information for their own good. I agree with the author’s statement, “Our new environment compels commitment and participation.” Our surrounding on the internet is highly involved and committed to their emotions and opinions. I agree that “we have become irrevocably involved with, and responsible for, each other.” We are definitely tangled with each other irreversibly, but I do not think we take responsibility for that as of now.
One thing which is definitely evolving is the mind and the way we think. We individuals are changing and learning new things and concepts. We are not sticking to ideas that was given to us from our parents and them from their parents at a very young age. No matter what, unconsciously we might sometimes transfer the same concepts to the next generation, but we still will have our own twist added in the ideas. As our surroundings change we are emerging and transforming with the change. It is crucial to understand that nothing remains stable and that everything around us will change eventually.
