Group A Check In Aaron, James, Harris, Richard

The Outsiders was heavily focused on perception based on upbringing and geographic location, so we are thinking of possibly doing:

  1. A blog based on gun violence based on location.
  2. A blog about modern juvenile delinquency within black youths.
  3. A video on social perception of people from different areas around the city.

Group D – Jeleah, Kye, Shatavia, and Angel

Book: A Lesson Before Dying.

Check In/Ideas

  1. A scrapbook.  The scrapbook would be a visual and creative way to display the groups historic items and other major symbols within the book.
  2. A recipe book.  Throughout the book a lot of food was mentioned. The recipe book will consist of food but also directions and instructions.  Which these two subjects refer back to the protagonist, who needed lots of directions and guidance while he was in jail.
  3. Postcards.  Location plays a big role in the book from the beginning to the end.  The postcards will show representations of the events and moments that occurred in the book.  They can be addressed to whomever is fit to receive the postcard (Jefferson, Grant, Tante Lou, Miss Emma, etc.)

Choice of presentation: Flier, Poster or Picture blog

  1. A flier/poster/picture blog on bullying emphasizing on youth and how bullying from the popular youth affects others. This corresponds to the part where Maureen insults Pecola and her friends.
  2. A flier/poster/picture blog on sexual abuse of youths. This is in regards to Cholly sexually abusing his daughter ( Pecola).
  3. A flier/poster/picture blog on mental trauma and raising awareness for those who need help for depression or mental trauma. This emphasizes on Pecola’s condition at the end of the novel.
