There will be 10-12 reading quizzes throughout the semester. The reading quizzes are designed to make sure you’re keeping abreast with the reading. Full disclosure, I’m not a fan of this type of assessment, but I have found that for the majority of students, having quizzes helps them stay on top of their reading and to pay attention to what they are reading. There will be a reading quiz for every set of readings except the reading on One Hundred Demon, which is a total of 10 reading quizzes. Each quiz will be worth five points, for a total of 50 points. This means if you multiply your total quiz points by two you will know what your grade is for the reading quizzes. There may be two additional quizzes, but the total score will still be out of 50, which will mean these additional quizzes will serve as extra credit.
Note: I will administer, collect, and go over the answers for the quiz in the beginning of class. This means that you will already know what you scored on the quiz. While I will return the quizzes, I will not necessarily do so in a timely manner.
