Animal rights activists have developed an analogy of human and animal suffering to prove that suffering is extended to all living creatures. For example, Marjorie Spiegel’s book “The Dreaded Comparison: Human and Animal Slavery” draws similarities between human exploitation of animals and the oppression of African Americans in America by white supremacists in America. Spiegel does not draw this analogy to equate animals to humans, as many opposes of his theories may suggest. However, this shows that the subjugations of animals and their conditions directly mirror that of the African slave.
