With all these information and research, I have finally came to the point where these dragon pendants will be a big hit in the pendant industry. My infantry of designers will be my main weapon in obliterating all the other pendants. My pendants will be light and easy to carry around. It will have a unique design aspect and will be made out of high quality material.
At first, 3D design caught my attention because I love art. I like looking at different colors and designs but majority of the arts that I’ve seen are in 2D. 3D design just made my curiosity rise and I was super excited to apply for this class. However, when I took this class, I found out that not only am I designing something, I am also taking on a business approach to it which actually helps me look at things differently. When I first started with SketchUp, I wanted to test things out and create a bunch of randomness. However, I first had to learn the basics and the tools that I am going to use. Creating a block shape was fairly simple, but getting it on level with other objects gets harder. Creating five different objects from scratch seemed impossible for me but I practiced and practiced. I made so many mistakes and tried fixing them. I found out that whenever I make an object, I would always use the “Orbit Tool.” The Orbit Tool allows a person to move the perspective of the object. It is one of the KEY factors in designing a 3D model. If I were to go back to late August, I would tell myself to constantly look at my object from ALL perspectives.
On the business aspect of the course, I learned that designing is not the main thing in 3D printing. If I have a great design, I need a way to market it and present it so people can critique on my design. I learned that a product should have a certain need and that the product should be its solution. In addition, this course made my creative thinking skills improve because at first, I only thought about the main focus, but afterwards, I started to become creative and came up with different ways of approaching a need. I feel like this course really go well together and if I want to produce something in the future, I use this class as my guide to create something outstanding.
Why print 3d dragon pendants? The reason why I chose to create 3d printed dragons is because I think dragons are pretty cool. They have a feel of coolness in them. Some people wear pendants because they believe that it brings a special life aspect. Others want to wear it for symbolization. Dragons are mythical creatures that gives off a fierce yet cool image. Many people uses dragons to resemble themselves as cool and fierce by getting tattoos on themselves. There are some existing companies like Shapeways that are already creating dragon pendants. Each one of them come in different material and cost about five dollars. The designs on the dragons are really good. I also researched what materials can be used to create 3d printed dragons. With so much detailing on the dragons the printing should take about 2-3 hours to make. Dragons are extremely complicated to draw and even more difficult to make a 3D model of it. The wings would have to have a support when printing. The size will be pretty small, about 3 inches tall and 2 inches wide. It varies because not all dragons will be the same. Some dragons might be bigger than another.
Several of my friends love dragons and they find dragons really cool. I think that if I make a dragon company that sells various dragon pendants and accessories related to dragons, they will buy the products there. I will make a collection of dragons with different themes because making a collection can get people to buy the whole set. Dragon lovers and collectors are my main target market. There will also be customizable dragons, so people can bring their sketch of a dragon and my company will help make it become a 3D model. There will also be unique dragons that is a “one of a kind” item and will be a limited time offer. This way, people will be interested on having their very own “one of a kind” item that no one else in the world has. It makes the item have more value to it.
Main Designers: Dexigner.com has all the 3D designers listed with their specialty. Each one of them are able to design 3D models and work with animation. They are also great at marketing and can help the dragon pendant industry improve a lot. They will be my secret weapon because without them, the pendant industry will not be as creative and successful. You need great designers to create great designs. If there are no great designs, then we will lose the essence of creating the best dragon pendants.

Since the dragon pendants are pretty small, the time for the 3D printer to print one dragon should be approximately 2-3 hours. Each pendant has a lot of small details so there are some dragons that won’t come out successful. If anyone wants to order dragon pendants online, it should take about 15 business days.
No one wants to wear a pendant that is heavy nor big. It is just way to uncomfortable to wear. Thus, I am making 3d printed dragon pendants to be no bigger than 3 inches tall and wide. Pendants are usually small and easy to wear so I want to keep it like that. To show the details of the dragon, I would not make the pendants too small.

In the jewelry world, a pendant is either a complete necklace — that is, the jewel and the chain — or the jewel or setting alone. Pendants are often sold without chains so that the purchaser can select a chain to suit their needs. Many people use pendants to make statements about themselves. When I researched more about pendants, I found out that there were such things as Power Pendants. These pendants seem to give different aura of energy. I like the sound of that. Pendants come in various shapes and form. Some people like to use them as accessories in fashion and other like to wear them because it symbolizes something special. However, I want to make a collection of Dragon pendants. I find them very interesting and very cool.
I will be operating on a top secret mission. This mission requires a lot of thinking and researching for it to become the most ultimate successful plan ever known to mankind! For this plan to work, I shall create a step by step plan on how I will dominate the Dragon pendant industry by the use of a simple technology; 3D printing. Yeah, that is right. 3D printing is known for creating objects from scratch to real life! This is my KEY to success!

Here is the plan:
11/11/13 – On the first week, I will define the word ‘pendant’ and research why people wear pendants; what appeals and attracts consumers. How pendants are a huge thing in today’s society. I will focus more on Dragons because it has interesting designs.
11/18/13- At week two, I shall research (spy) the different kind of materials (ceramic, steel, plastic, etc.) used in the pendant industry. This will allow me to have an idea of what supplies I need to incorporate to the 3D printer.
11/25/13- At week three, I will work on the size of the pendants. Size matters because it you do not want to wear a big or small dragon pendant. It has to be comfortable yet measurable.
12/2/13- At week four, I will search the timing of the printing. I need to have a clear time of when a pendant is complete.
12/9/13- At week five, I will gather an infantry of fashion designers to design the best pendant there ever was! This will fall into my favor of working with the best of the best!
12/16/13- On the last week, I will have accomplished my domination of the pendant industry. I will have great designs from fashion designers and 3D printing will allow fashion designers to create a superb pendant!
3D printing is a whole new ‘BIG’ thing in today’s society. Even though 3D digital design is extremely hard and it requires loads of time, it is WORTH it! It is fun, creative and satisfying. Having to create an object from your imagination to real life is an accomplishment because 3D printing works like magic. I am surprised that even 3D printing exist because it something unimaginable. There are lots of objects that can be created from your imagination. Even though I am inexperienced, I get so excited thinking about the creative things that I want to make. There are just so many subjects that interests me. Architecture is something I really wanted to go into because there are so many things going on in an area. (ie: trees, houses, rivers, animals) Toys are also interesting because during childhood, which everyone has experienced, has encountered toys that made your life enjoyable.
Fashion seems to draw me in a lot so I have decided However, I actually want to work with jewelry. There are so many things that can be created in 3D design. Rings and pendants are amazing to have, especially when it looks really cool. Making 3D prints of accessories is nice because it can be gifted. I would like to use different kinds of material available for this because it can work so many different ways. Shapeways already makes all sorts of things from 3D printing. They have so many categories from art to miniatures. Under the jewelry section, there are pendants and rings that look really nice. All the small details that were put into the 3D printer seems really hard to execute. I wonder how many messed up objects it take to make the perfect one. Then how long will it take to make such a detailed object. With all of these questions I found resources that relates to my subject.
