Prof. Jean P. GaffneyDr. Gaffney is interested in continuing to understand the role of the matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in diseases such as cancer. The MMPs have been implicated in homeostatic roles as well as in disease states, which makes them a challenging yet critical target for therapeutics. These enzymes have been implicated in cancer.
