On July 1, Helen Mills became the 18th president of the Baruch College Fund (BCF), the fundraising arm of the College. She is the first woman to lead the BCF, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
A BCF trustee since 2012, Ms. Mills brings to the board more than 30 years’ experience investing in and managing real estate in New York and the surrounding area. She is the founder of the Helen Mills Event Space and Theater in New York.
Asked how she feels to be the first woman in this important role, Ms. Mills notes her “deep gratitude to my incredibly supportive and talented fellow trustees for choosing me to be the BCF president,” adding, “I am also learning the symbolic importance to women of my being in the position as they tell me how personally happy they are to see a woman as president. For these women, my fellow trustees, and Baruch students, I feel great responsibility to contribute to the ongoing success of the BCF.”
Married to Baruch alumnus Gary Tannenbaum (’70), Ms. Mills completed postgraduate work at Baruch in the 1970s.
