Our Mission

The Black Studies Colloquium (BSC) seeks to provide a space for interdisciplinary discussion and idea generation for all scholars of black studies at Baruch College. Through a series of meetings during the fall and spring semester, the BSC will provide a forum for faculty to engage with exciting scholars, activists, and public intellectuals whose works speak to issues critical to black studies. We envision the BSC as a space to generate conversations across black studies at Baruch that have historically been siloed in our respective departments. We are launching this program at a moment of several racial reckonings in our university, city, and country. With this mission the BSC aims to form a community for faculty and students to connect our activism, protest and scholarship.
