While doing this interview I felt very weird. It was like I had to watch what i was saying and I don’t think that it could have been as natural as it could be.But I don’t think that it would have ever been natural because I knew I was being recorded. Also i feel like Nayely was nervous too because it was so funny and we kept laughing between takes. My interview process/strategy to get the most out of the conversation was to just ask simple questions to start the conversation. Then when we got the starting information we could elaborate from there. After the elaboration I started to ask follow up questions and tried to let the conversation lead where it needed to go.Overall the interview was pretty good and i got enough inspiration from her to see more into her life and she connects to her culture and background everyday. It shows how it can add to one’s true self.
Dear Nayely , I hope this finds you well. I want to first acknowledge and thank you for the fact that you are okay with me interviewing you. I know you are very quiet and like to stay to yourself, so I appreciate you opening up about something that is so close to you. I thank you for your help and really enjoyed talking to you. You have taught me that focusing on your culture and applying that to your every day is really not that complex.Life generally gets in the way and captures how your relationship to your background might have been in or if you wanted to be connected to your background. Honestly whether it is jewelry or clothes or a dish or even a book, or can be important to a person’s culture in a person’s background, which is easily connected to who they feel as a person. When talking about your jewelry, it was like I was there with you in the American republic feeling the same frustration too far as a kid and emerging into now a college student. Which that of just recently you visited the Dominican Republic feeling new and improved. Now I see that you feel differently about the place and you that it is a new experience.
