Personal Reflection

So far my experience in this course has been intensive and challenging yet educational and interesting. I was at first intimidated by the class because I had thought it would be very design heavy and I have little to zero experience in design. As the course moved along I wasn’t sensing any heavy design aspects until we started Sketchup. Like a batter stepping up to bat, I was nervous and anxious as heck afraid that I’ll screw up incredibly and be moving at a pace a lot slower than the rest of the team or class thus slowing everyone down. To my surprise with practice and demonstrations I started to hone in on my skills and gained a greater confidence in using the program. Outside of the hands on design aspect of the course my real strengths lie in ideation and creative thinking. I feel I consistently have good ideas that seem to appear out of thin air but have little courage or know-how in getting this ideas to manifest in reality or virtual reality in this case so, developing this will be key for me. Though this strength happens to work in my favor and a team’s favor when I am placed in a group setting. Once we were assigned teams and given projects to tackle together I felt more confident in contributing my strengths and tackling my weaknesses with my team. I also have unique interest in that I am thinking of ways to utilize 3d printing that may not have been necessarily talked about in Fabricated nor the class (aka my interest in 3d printing records). In turn I happen to have insight into a unique industry.
