Cheese Making Trends in The United States

Among many other cheese producing countries, United States was ranked second after European Union, with 5.3 million metric tons of cheese manufactured in 2015. Between all other states, Wisconsin is a leader in cheese production, with 2.91 in 2014. By 2017 the number has reached 3.37 billion pounds of cheese produced. Second and third places, within the states are usually taken by California and Idaho, respectively.

Cheese production In the United States increases annually and since 2013 with 5.04 million metric tons, it has reached 5.88 in 2018. Cheese market just like the production rate gains more and more popularity among Americans and rises every year.  Total cheese volume sales amounted 3.52 billion pounds in 2014, within which Cheddar was best selling cheese variety. It is worth to mention that total cheese sales in The United States was over 17 billion U.S. dollars in 2014 and very close to 20 billion in 2018.

It is predicted that the sales as well as production rate will be increasing every year and the per capita consumption of cheese from 33lbs in 2014, will reach 37 pounds (16.8kg) by 2025.
