Makerspace Experience

Makerspace was a refreshing experience compared to all the rigid finance courses I’m so used to by now. It brought back many warm childhood memories. Maybe that is why the moment I saw Legos, I just couldn’t help myself. I had no idea what I was going to build out of the colorful blocks yet but just being able to stack them upon each other, like I did so many times when I was a kid, was precious.

Legos

In the end, my “creation” turned out to be a palm tree. I literally used all the Lego pieces I had for the trunk of my tree, which is why it came out to be very very very tall. After I was done playing with Legos, I decided to go around the room in order to explore what else was out there: there was a lot! Some of the stuff was very technical with wires and fuses (or so I think) sticking out in all directions. Later on I found out that it could spin and draw circles. Pretty impressive!

Having circled the room once or twice, I returned to my palm tree and made a few improvements. I also built a well out of popsicle sticks, patiently piling them one by one. I used a piece of clear plastic kindly provided by one of my classmates as a lid for the well. I took quite a few pictures of the final products of my creativity. However, for a yet unknown reason my iPhone absolutely could not tolerate them and, without consulting me, took the liberty of deleting the pictures together with the majority of other photos I had. The nights spent in an effort to recover the lost pictures have so far been futile…
