Everyone knows chicken and waffles. But how about chicken in a waffle cone?

Location: Chick’nCone booth at Broadway Bites, located in Greely Square in Midtown until June 15. Chick’nCone also has a permanent location in Turnstyle Underground Market in Columbus Circle.

Price: $8 for a cone with fried chicken coated in one of six sauces: Kick’n Ranch, Yella BBQ, Cinna-Maple, Buffalo Blue, Traditional BBQ, and Peri Peri. For an extra $4, you can get a side of cajun fries.

Broadway Bites returns just in time for warming spring temperatures, and this year they’ve brought their A-game with Chick’nCone! The eatery gives the classic chicken and waffles a twist with a portable version of the southern favorite.

I am and always will be a fan of BBQ sauce, so it’s only natural that I decided to try theirs. Let me tell you–as a self-proclaimed BBQ aficionado–this was one of the best BBQ sauces I’ve ever had. It was just sweet enough and the spices weren’t overpowering. It was for this alone that I would go back to get another cone.

The chicken was fried to perfection, and because it isn’t tossed in the sauce until it’s ordered, it was still crispy when I bit into the cone. My only issue with Chick’nCone is that they don’t offer forks (which, yes, I know that’s the point), so it was hard to eat it without making a mess while I was walking to class.

Despite the hefty price tag of $8 a cone, the quality of the food and the great taste made it worth it. If you’re thinking of trying out Chick’nCone, be sure to leave time for waiting on line–their Broadway Bites location is popular.
