History & Background of Lady M

History

Lady M started out by selling cakes to multiple restaurants across New York City. It opened its first shop on the Upper East Side of NYC in 2004. Following that, Lady M has operated in multiple states of U.S., including NY, CA, MA, and IL and expanded to the international market, such as Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.

Ken Romaniszyn, the founder of Lady M, is Hawaii native. He was inspired by French pastry and Japanese confection. French desserts are doughs made from flour, butter, baking powder, egg, milk and so forth. Japanese desserts mainly consist of rice, flour, and fruit. The common ingredients used in Japanese dessert are rice, flour, beans, and matcha (green tea powder). Some of its well-known desserts are mochi made from rice and Manju made from flour, rice powder, and red bean filling. French desserts are relatively sweeter to Japanese desserts.
