Anti-Muslim Violence in the City

On August 4th, 2010 just one block away from Baruch College, Michael Enright a 24 year old American hailed the cab of Ahmed Sharif. He asked Ahmed if he was Muslim, and once he found out that he was, he stabbed him and nearly killed on the spot, giving slashes on his arms, throat, face, and hands. This left Ahmed in the hospital for weeks, and eventually not able to even return to being a cab driver because of the blood pressure stress he gets once he sits in that drivers seat. Mr. Enright just recently pleaded guilty to these acts of racism and is now sentenced to 9 ½ years of prison. Although this act of violent racism seems to be disgusting and almost unbelievable, it is a problem that foreigners in America face every day.
