Creative Project
Since this is a course aimed at students interested in both producing and critiquing culture, one of the assignments is to create a cultural work of some kind. I am giving you total latitude in terms of choosing a project: it could be a short story (or several), a collection of poems, a long-form non-fiction essay, a piece of music, a dramatic monologue, a screenplay, a short film, a documentary, a painting, a series of photographs, a website, a blog, or some other cultural form. You may choose to work in an area that you know well, or you may venture into totally unfamiliar territory. But please choose a medium and a subject that you are passionate about, and try to make something that you think others will find inspiring and memorable. You will be required to present your work to the rest of the students (or a part of that work), and you will need to submit a 1-2-page essay describing your creative process and how the discussions we had during the semester influenced that process.
