As part of the tradition, along with our burger of choice, and a side of fries, we also opted for a nice weekly shake. But because we had limited funds to feed our appetite many weeks we had to split milkshakes. Along with my food I would order a strawberry milkshake. Amanda would sometimes just not order at all and only ask for a milkshake. It then become a weekly routine to order a milkshake that we craved and split it.
When they serve the milkshake to you, it came in the tin cup that they would make the milkshake in along with the nice glass cup they presented it in. So when it came time to split the shake, we had an extra cup conveniently at our side. I always asked for the tin cup and Amanda always wanted the glass cup. I’ve always liked the fact of drinking my shake out of a tin cup. Little did Amanda know, drinking from the tin cup had its perks. One thing is that they give you the cup because it contains the excess milkshake that couldn’t fit into the nice looking cup. That meant that when we poured, we would often time forget about the excess milkshake and I’d have a little extra for myself. The tin cup also mean I’d get the whip cream on top, meaning more milkshake for me once again.
Christmas came around after a few weeks since we started going to Smashburger, and then they came out with holiday flavored shakes. They had a poster on the door that showed a very inviting peppermint milkshake. By that time, our group had already decided on our go to menu items for every time we went. So when we saw the peppermint shake poster, we decided that it was time to try something new.
It took some convincing to get Amanda to split the shake with me. After all, we always got the same vanilla or strawberry milkshake. As always, the shake came out looking very appetizing and aesthetically pleasing. In terms of taste, the taste of the peppermint was very prominent as we chew at pieces of candy cane and peppermint. Overall, the shake was well made and tasted fantastic. But that would be the last time we’d order it because we felt like it was too much for a simple milkshake.
