The event that I attended was aimed at showing students how to gain insight into the job interview process. At first I was skeptical of what I would be able to attain from this meeting but as the presentations carried on I began to have more insight as to what the whole interview process must be specialized in. The people who did the presentation were workers from Target and were very confident in informing us on how the whole process is carried out. They showed us the formula behind behavioral based interviewing and the steps that go along with it. There is the topic of “Task” which is answering the question by describing the situation. Next is “Action/Behavior” which is the action of what was needed to solve the problem in the task. Lastly, there was the topic of “Outcome” which describes the result of the situation explained and whether anything valuable had been taken from the experience. These topics make for a smooth conversation with the interviewer and help them understand where you are coming from as a person. Another rule to live by when going into an interview is to recognize and review your own accomplishments such as a legacy or impact made in a workplace. Overall, the event had given me some insights as to how to conduct myself when it comes to a professional setting.
