Hi, my name is Ryan Kamal. My pronouns are he/him/his. I am from Pakistan and I’m Muslim. I was born and raised in the North Bronx, and I live there as well. I am seventeen years old. I am the oldest of three siblings, my little sister is eight and my little brother is sixteen. I may transfer from Baruch in the future but as of now, I am planning on staying. My major is Biology but I may change it to business or finance. My favorite subject is Science because it is the most interesting out of the rest of the subjects. I played football my whole life but I recently got into volleyball over quarantine. I like to work out, cook, and explore nature in my free time. A fun fact about me is that my name was supposed to be Rayyan but my parents had no clue how to spell so they put my name as Ryan. So even though I may sound uncultured, I promise I’m not. The picture I chose is of the mecca. It is located in Saudi Arabia. It is the most holy muslim city and holds a lot of significance in Islam. This picture means a lot to me because I will be going there soon and religion has been a part of my life that my parents and family put the most emphasis on. Islamic studies and practices have shaped me into who I am today, how I think, and act. Without my religion, I would be on the wrong path so I thank my parents for making religion a top priority and instilling the values of it when I was young so they sticked with me into my adolecense and hopefully my adult years. I hope to have an amazing and enriching experience in this class with you all. https://www.google.com/search?q=mecca&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS949US949&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwisg6ed9vv5AhU7MlkFHZiNA0gQ_AUoAXoECAIQAw&biw=1366&bih=649&dpr=1#imgrc=q6dmb1oYUFjGiM
Hey Ryan, I too one day want to go mecca and I use to learn Islamic studies at near by mosqs but I stopped after college started. I plan on taking religious practices more seriously and I like that there are other Muslims in the class and your intro was motivational and cool that your able to manage multiple aspects of your life.
Hi Ryan, it was interesting to find out that your name was spelled incorrectly although it seems pretty ordinary. I was able to connect with your experience in switching up into a different hobby during quarantine. The same way you played basketball your whole life I played soccer my whole life. However, I also switched up to something new during quarantine.
Hi Ryan, I respect how you follow your culture and glad your on the right path. I could see we do the same things in our free time and enjoy life.
