  1. 3. I think that what makes foreigners cope with the feeling of displacement is doing exactly what Andre did, imagine your familiar place in your new place. Creating the connections between something you are unfamiliar with and something you are familiar with can make you feel more comfortable at that place. I feel that in a city like New York which is so diverse it’s easy to stay closer to our roots. The food and customs may remind you of home. Finally, I think we can all create a home we wish to be in. Andre in his sense of displacement was at home in Straus park because it reminded him of all the different places he’s visited.

  2. 1. One way foreigners can ease the effect of displacement is to visit neighborhoods that are from their mother country. An example would be a chinese migrant worker visiting chinatown in Manhattan. This worker may feel welcomed and nostalgic. This in turn, would make him feel better and help him cope with displacement.

  3. 1. Foreigners do make us feel that we are not the only one who left their homeland and they reminds us that we are all foreigners.
