What is your research topic and why have you chosen this research topic? (Please remember to stay away from broad topics like the death penalty, abortion, social media, etc.). Consider researching something that would add value to your life or to the lives of those around you. Your response should be at least three sentences long.

My topic of choice is maladaptive daydreaming and how disruptive to daily life it is as well as how immersive it is, how healthy/unhealthy it is, and how many people struggle with it. Maladaptive daydreaming is intense daydreaming that distracts a person from their real life. I will see if it is as alarming and concerning as it is made up to be. I am still in the early stages of researching, so my focus regarding this subject might change. I chose it because I think I have this problem. I am not sure, so I am looking forward to finding out what it is and the extent to which I have this problem and how it affects others.
My topic is about the effect that the internet has on children’s development. I originally planned on going in another direction till today’s zoom meeting, where someone mentioned video games’ effect on mood. My little sister is what some would call an “iPad kid” and I think it would be interesting to research the subject.
This is a very broad topic. Maybe just focus on the concept of “iPad Kids”.
My research topic will be about the stigma of therapy / mental health in minorities or economically disadvantaged groups. I have chosen this topic because I realize that in my family it is not talked about enough or even acknowledged. I am not sure if it is as a result of how my parents were raised and/or other factors.
My topic will be about music therapy and how it can help heal. Music is so powerful and can be healing to those in a poor mental state or anyone who wants to feel calm. I remember taking a yoga class a few years ago and really focusing on the types of music played and watching everyone become deeply relaxed, it was fascinating.
My topic will be about foreign language in school is important for communication. I have always wanted to learn multiple different languages throughout my education career. However, there was limited number of teachers and I am not a person that is good with self-studying. If it is possible I would want to learn more languages then what I already known and learn more in depths of those languages.
My research topic is about standing and how it could literally add years to your life. I decided to go with this topic because it deals with a problem that most people are going through, sitting all day. In addition this topic seems very interesting to research about and its usefulness is undeniable because it’s a very practical way of adding value to your life and becoming a healthier person.
I think the topic that I will be researching is about the affect of being on a team to a persons mood. I find the topic to be interesting because you see when someones mood is more positive due to them being a part of a team, and being something more than themselves.
I would like to research ways to get out of a slump, a low energy mood, or a burnt-out state. The feeling where you don’t want to do anything despite your responsibilities and some helpful tips. I have a few of my own methods, but I’m interested in learning more recommendations that can help me and others.
I am thinking of researching the effects of stress on college students and how to cope with it. I chose this research topic because everyone deals with stress at several points in their lives. I also think it will be interesting and helpful to research because each person has different ways of dealing with stress and exploring these ways can help those who are failing to cope with their stress in college.
This is a bit broad. It might need to be contextualized in the age of COVID-19.
I’m thinking about focusing my final paper on the rise of cybercrime and how to prevent it. Nowadays we tend to use the internet so much especially with the pandemic, we attend classes on a website/app and sometimes clicking a wrong advertisement can have consequences. It’s easy to forget the risks or to think we’re safe from scams. I also recently watched a video where someone traced the IP address of a scammer group and hacked their camera to expose their identities and that’s where this idea rooted from.
The topic that I will be looking into will be the effects of smoking cigarettes has on a person and those around them. The reason why I chose this topic is that growing up I was raised in an environment where smoking cigarettes was considered to be normal, but I was always taught to never do it. There are so many consequences from smoking cigarettes both on a person’s body and the environment (including people around a smoker and the global setting). I would like to explore more into this topic and see just how impactful smoking cigarettes is.
I will be doing my research paper on meditation. I learn and show the positive effects that meditation has on both the mental and physical aspects of people. I think meditation is becoming popular and will prove useful especially in the state the world is with mental health being negative among a lot of people.
I want to do research on sleep. I was thinking about topics that can be interesting to me and can be helpful for myself and others. I realized that since the pandemic started I was struggling to maintain a constant sleep schedule. One day I would go to sleep at 11 pm and the other day at 5 am. I realized that I feel different (more/less tired) depending on when I sleep. So in my research, I want to find out how sleep quality depends on when you sleep and how you sleep. I also want to look into the connection between a person’s mood, energy, and productivity and their sleep schedule.
I want to do my final research paper on the role of technology in government. I’m really passionate about how our government can integrate technology in order to better solve public problems. That is because our government is known for being extremely inefficient and slow when it comes to using technology to solve the biggest challenges of our day.
My research topic is how phone usage affects student’s general performance in school. I chose this topic because I feel that it is relevant to most students throughout all levels of school, and I feel that when I procrastinate, my phone is one of the main culprits. I would like to learn more about exactly how phone usage can impact students ability to study and learn, so that I can maintain better focus in the future.
This is a bit broad. Let’s discuss refining the topic a bit.
My research topic is how video games or other forms of entertainment such as watching television can effect someones focus. I chose this topic because having to do online learning comes with being on the internet or being at home where you are surrounded by more distractions compared to being in a classroom. Even though I know how to put certain things I find entertaining aside in order to focus on what is important, I feel like I could still learn more to help myself and others around me to to be one hundred percent focused on what you are trying to do or what is important such as schoolwork.
My topic is about working out. How simple types of equipment can change your life to become a better version of yourself. Whether you’re trying to lose weight, or gain some muscle, working out boosts your confidence and your mood. Working out has also proven to improve productivity level and concentration levels. For these reasons, I have chosen to research the effects of working out, and how it can affect your body.
I want to research how social media trivializes and idolize social threats such as cartels and gangs. I see this all across the media as well as tv shows where threats to the government and to its people are glorified and even influence young adults to be apart of such dangerous groups.
I want to research the causes of phobias and the science behind them. I want to find out of there is a “cure” or a way for individuals to get rid of their phobias. I also want to see if there is a connection between certain phobias and mental health.
My research topic will be the association between video games and psychological functioning. I chose this topic because there is a stigma centered around video games and many studies argue for opposite sides of the spectrum. So I decided I would like to focus on both the positive and negative psychological effects. Thus concluding my paper stating whether the positive outweighs the negative or vice versa, to determine if video games are actually beneficial or harmful.
