“Drinking coffee elsewhere”

  1. When Dina refuses to participate in the “trust” game what does this say about her? How does this change later on?
  2. Why could it be that Dina connected more with Heidi than anyone else? How did their relationship grow from the beginning to end of the passage?
  3. What is the significance of the therapist? How does he help Dina?

  1. 1) When Dina refused to participate in the “trust game”, it shows that she is a person who has trouble with trusting people, especially people she does not know. She has no interest in opening up to anyone nor making any friends. Also, she lies to her therapist instead of telling him the truth about her stories in order to protect herself. This changes when she meets Heidi. After the night at the dish room where they washed each other, Dina realizes that she loved Heidi and began to spend more time together in her room. They got closer as they read together and slept together. Dina was close to opening up to Heidi one night, but she did not have the chance to because Heidi fell asleep.
