Coming back to school last semester after taking some time off was a bit overwhelming. I hadn’t taken an English class in a while and I had very little confidence in my writing but taking ENG 2100 Professor Gordon really helped me overcome some of my fears. Through the class, one on one meetings, emails, and the resources she was always more than happy to provide us, I was able to learn so much. I was very pleased to know that I would once again be able to take an English class with her. My main goal for this semester is to continue regaining confidence in my writing. I hope to take  everything that I learned from my mistakes last semester and apply it to the way I take on this semester.

One of my main challenges last semester was keeping a balance between work and school. My job calls for early mornings and a lot of planning so I was taking classes in the evening and working in the mornings which didn’t give me a lot of time to get homework done and I found myself rushing to finish assignments. I was able to work out my schedule in a better way so I have enough time between classes to get my assignments done.  Having all the blog prompts and assignments available ahead of time is also very helpful because I can get work done ahead of time when I have any free time.

I’m very excited about the theme of this class because as a former concert journalist, music is one thing I am very passionate about. Last semester, the blog post assignments were my favorite and I am sure they will be this year as well. The readings and podcasts were very interesting and with the theme this year, I have no doubt that they will be just as great. With music being such a huge part of almost everyone’s life, I think it will be really interesting to read and listen to other people’s perspectives and see how their opinions/interpretations differ from each other’s. I am curious about the musical tastes of others and how they view different genres.

I am looking forward to another great semester of learning and improving my writing.

  1. Last semester that was also a challenge for me and this being my first time with Professor Gordon it is nice to hear everything she has helped you with that is also one thing I look forward to is getting help if and whenever I can. Then the blog prompts being available ahead of time will also help me out with some time management with other things like work.
