Within the article with no author utilizes Noname’s music as a tool or measure to analyze her relationship with her mother. She is trying to uncover what she and her mother’s relationship is and why it is. she is a gay woman and her mother is religiously Jewish. her mother can’t come to terms with her daughter being gay because it appears as if her life is ruined where is her dad is trying to give her comfort in the emotional aspect. Unlike in Noname’s first song where the mother is the one giving the emotional support worth two people while the father is more or less just paying bills. In a way, the author sees the relationship between no name and her mother as unattainable for the likes of herself. She uses the song by Noname, “Hold me up” As inside for the inconsistencies of unconditional love coming from a mother. Her being the way she isn’t supposed to affect the way her mother views her or how strong that relationship is but it ultimately does. This kind of affects the author’s view of her mother but she can’t disown her as a mother because she still had raised her.
Music has helped me fix the relationship with not with anyone specifically more with myself. I used to have a really bad social anxiety problem where I didn’t like to interact with other people at all and it was kind of a hindrance in my everyday life. I eventually got over it in the middle of the senior year just because so many good things were happening to me. I had a job, was getting good grades and I was just at peace. Most of this was just because the music I was listening to was just chill. I got into listening to Lo-Fi music while I was doing homework or just trying to be productive as well as a chill artist that made me realize there’s no point in being afraid of certain things. Whatever happens at that moment, the result won’t last forever. I remember a Juice Wrld interview where he said “I hope everyone accomplished something significant. Ev even if you didn’t accomplish something significant, don’t be discouraged, just aim to accomplish something significant tomorrow, and the next day and so on. Umm if anybody’s going through anything I hope and I pray that you get through it, like everybody you see like any, whether it’s your favorite rapper whether it be me or whoever that you admire for whatever reason, umm, they are human just like you so with that being said they believe just like you they breathe just like you they eat just like you the only thing changing yall is that you know, they know around the world that you don’t know yet but I say yet to say that you could do anything that you put… your mind to”. Ever since I heard that I’ve just been living one day at a time. It has kept me optimistic throughout the last two years.
Music is a key component to helping find and fix myself too. It all depends on the music we listen to and how those songs can really affect who we are, how we act, and how we think. Lo-Fi music is definitely trending too and it’s something I listen to when I need to relax and just chill. It’s a really good vibe.
