Some main points in both of the article is that he learned about music at a young age. One of the important parts was that many of the kids that go to school in Sweden go to music afterschool programs that are funded by the government. This is what helped him because at a young age he learned many instruments and thanked the programs because without them he would never be able to do this. When you learn an instrument you learn how songs work and it can be pretty fun learning how they are made. All this knowledge at a young age really helped him and then he had a natural talent in song writing propelled him to having dozens of #1 songs. He did not want to be an artist and he recorded all the songs on demos then he shared them so, the artists that he worked with were making covers of his songs. Martin was in a metal band early on and was called Martin White but then he couldn’t continue with this group because he loved pop too much and didn’t want to tell them. But, this would lead to him meeting his mentor known as Dagge who would teach him everything about studios and give him the name Max Martin. Now that he had all his knowledge and the support in order to make songs he would help a group now known as the backstreet boys become famous through songs like “I Want It That Way”. After listening to many of the songs mentioned you can tell that many of them are similar in a way because they can relate to many moods. The will usually have some sad part but also an uplifting part that will make you happy and want to dance. Even in one of the articles Tove Lo says that Swedish pop has specific characteristics. The songs have “clear but simple lyrics, is a lot about the melody, and also having a bit of melancholy or darker sense to it”. This was very true after listening to many of the songs and you can see how this a thing with Swedish pop and I can see songs being made in a similar way in the future. The reason is because as time goes on many people will always experience many different kinds of moods and Swedish pop really connects with everyone in a way or with the problems that they face everyday and gives them something that can relate too and listen.

I agree with the point you made where you said “When you learn an instrument you learn how songs work and it can be pretty fun learning how they are made”. A lot of my friends and family are big into music production and learning how music is made with certain types of instruments. It really changes how you listen to music. Anytime I listen to new songs I’m listening more to the production of the song and looking for the sounds of certain instruments.
