Mary’s story takes place in Philly, growing up without a mother since the age of 11, she had to make a grownup decision at a young age. Thinking it would be the best route for her it wasn’t at first, facing discrimination for being a young black woman in the system the odds were already against her from the jump. It became sort of a thing in which the world was against her seeing it first hand to having being into court because she gave a ” dirty look” at her teacher is just beyond stupid and unheard of. It’s frustrating that things like this is being taken place without getting some type of noise from the media instead all there is this bullshit about Trump shit, like bro he’s gone move on talk about these issues instead of that. Excuse my rant but back to the story now, Mary growing up was infatuated with rap female artist Missy Elliot. Mary was so deep into it that she to was pursing a career in rap now often rapping to Missy’s songs or just writing her own whenever she had the opportunity to do so, eventually she needed to keep it moving and grooving as an orphan now she discovered her voice as a child and now all she needed was a name and that’s when it came to her. Mary had stumbled upon a book showing teachings and deity’s similar to her skin color leading her to find the one. The goddess Isis of Egypt was special to Mary seeing and gaining the knowledge that she played the role as a healer and having the ability of magic as well, it made it even more personal when she saw that Isis was a colored woman. That right there was enough for her to set everything in motion, but when there’s good in this world bad just comes out of the sky breaking down the door. Mary began playing basketball at a predominantly white school eventually becoming the star of the team, but this dream was short lived since her orphanage was not going to allow her to pursue an academic career in that school at all or any other school. Eventually she was able to get into a school, Penn state , this was an opportunity for her to start fresh and now she took the nickname Isis to now embody the goddess to do great things for herself and later on down the line. This was also short lived the lack of resources made her dropout out college and enrolled back into the street life selling drugs to get by when she eventually became pregnant while still selling. She racked up a serious amount of charges for selling and was soon arrested in which she then gave birth to a baby boy while in custody and behind bars, the cruelty she faced while in labor and after was inhumane and degrading on so many levels. Then again lack woman need to work 100 times harder then black men to create a name for themselves while still being back by the world. Isis though was very different she didn’t give up at all, rather she kept fighting for herself to live for her self and for her new born child. She went back to school, secured a job, took care of her son and was back to rapping while doing all of this on a daily basis. In the end of it all she truly was a goddess that managed to find her own way to survive for herself and for those she brought into this world.
