About Me

Greeting everyone, my full name is Calvin Dong. I have no nicknames that I will rather be referred to, so you can just call me by my first name. You can use pronouns like he, him, or his to address me. I am currently in my second year in college and had only recently visited and attended class in person at Baruch College’s campus. I am aiming to get into the Zicklin School of Business and plan on majoring in something in business. If I had to choose a major right now, during the writing of this post, I would lean toward majoring in accounting. I live in Manhattan and commute by subway which takes about 30 minutes. My hobbies are playing video games, solving puzzles, and sketching with my sketchbook. In my offtime, I mostly play strategy games like League of Legends and Pokemon. Something that I also like to do is completing crossword puzzles every week from the New York Times website. It gives the thrill and a sense of accomplishment for that week.

A text that recently had made a lasting impression on me was The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I had read this text or story during my senior year of high school. I was awestruck by the struggle of Gatsby in achieving his American dream and his sad demise. Gatsby’s struggle in achieving his American dream had made me wonder what my American dream is and want to do in the future. I wonder if I can realize what I want from life and be able to obtain it. Just like Gatsby having capital but doesn’t have the one thing in life he wanted, his marriage with Daisy. So far I haven’t been able to answer that, but I have taken a step forward in answering that by going to college and exploring my interests.
