Ibsen, Hedda Gabler.
What role does class play in Hedda Gabler?
The reader may understand from Hedda’s ignorance that social position does not have the power that society believes it has. Hedda tries to control and dominate people on her own terms of the moment, presumably to alleviate the terrible monotony of her life, and therefore causes others to suffer for no other reason than that she may.

Melville, “Bartleby, the Scrivener”
Explain the significance of the text’s subtitle, “A Story of Wall Street”?
The text of Herman Melville’s short story “Bartleby, the Scrivener” is given a subtitle whose significance most readers will miss. When you look first at the title, you could suppose that the author included the subtitle to enlighten readers about the setting of the short story. Although this is one of the reasons behind the subtitle, there is much more to it than meets the eye. The subtitle uses the cost of going up capitalist culture, but it also speaks to the detention that walls provide.

Frederick Douglass, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave
4. Explain the significance of literacy for Douglass?
Douglass’s ability to read and write has allowed him to explore a whole new universe. He meets people who feel the same way he does about slavery and the efforts taken to free the slaves. In addition, Douglass appears to use reading to grow in terms of his purpose and identity. He comes to the realization that he might not have to live as a slave forever and that he is capable of learning. Douglass claims that the path from slavery to freedom was made possible by his literacy. It is not the process of picking up reading and writing; rather, it is the realization of why it is important to keep slaves ignorant. When Master Hughs says that slaves are worthless once they learn to read and write, he is highlighting this for Douglass.

William Wordsworth, Selected Poems
Why do you think Wordsworth gives “Tintern Abbey” such a precise and detailed sub-title? What is the significance of this poem’s full titile?
Wordsworth, in my opinion, includes such a thorough subtitle in order to highlight the location of where he composed this poem. He thought this was a secure location where he could write down whatever was on his mind without any constraints. The reader can infer from the subtitle’s level of detail the distinctions he has observed between his present perspective and his thoughts from his last visit. Compared to his prior visit, he is being more forthcoming and reflective about this location, which helps him to explain it much more effectively.

Rousseau, The Confessions.
What is the narrator’s purpose in writing these “confessions”? How do you know?
The narrator wants to use these “confessions” as a look back at his own life and to alter how society and other people perceive him. By reading the book, I was able to determine the narrator’s motivations as “confessions” is an autobiography of his life that was released after his passing. The enlightenment is still being embraced by people in the 18th century, albeit it is not yet fully accepted. Because the narrator is Catholic and holds religious beliefs, he wrote about his own personal life in all of its details. In this situation, he is confessing his wrongdoing and asking for forgiveness to everyone. As an illustration, he had a difficult childhood, no mother, and is involved in adultery with a mistress in the novel. Overall, the book is depressing and details his miserable life and poor decisions. In order to relieve the burden of his guilt via confession or religious belief, he gave his book the title “confessions” and included all of his transgressions as well as his life’s accomplishments in it.

William Blake
Blake describes innocence and experience as “the two contrary states of the human soul.” What do you think he means by this?
In contrast to experience, which stands for learning new things and coming to comprehend the complexities of life, innocence stands for a state of unadulterated purity, joy, and simplicity that is unimpaired by the harsh realities of the outer world. Blake believed that these states were in constant opposition to one another and that their interaction may lead to growth and better understanding. His books use this contrast to critique societal norms and the restricting aspects of organized religion, urging readers to reflect on their own path to moral and spiritual enlightenment through the rapprochement of two polar opposite states inside themselves and in society.

Akinari, “Bewitched”
- Why do you think people (both in the 18th century, when Akinari was writing, and in our own day) are attracted to ghost stories or tales of the supernatural?
As a reader trying to analyze I think, People are attracted to ghost stories or tales of the supernatural for several reasons, both in the 18th century when Ueda Akinari was writing, and in our own day. Here are some reasons: Curiosity about the Unknown**: Humans have a natural curiosity about the unknown and the unexplained. Ghost stories and tales of the supernatural often deal with phenomena that are beyond our understanding, which can be both intriguing and exciting. Thrill and Excitement, These stories often involve suspense and danger, which can provide a sense of thrill and excitement. This can be particularly appealing in a safe context, where the danger is only imaginary.Psychological Catharsis, Ghost stories can also provide a form of psychological catharsis, allowing us to confront our fears and anxieties in a controlled environment. Simply put, many people find ghost stories entertaining. The combination of suspense, mystery, and the supernatural can make for a compelling narrative. Psychological Catharsis**: Ghost stories can also provide a form of psychological catharsis, allowing us to confront our fears and anxieties in a controlled environment.
- entertainment – makes our world more interesting
- to help us understand own world better”what if
- revels things that might be unimaginable
- fill of fantasies
.In the 18th century, these stories might have also served as cautionary tales or moral lessons, reflecting the beliefs and values of the time. Today, while we may have a more scientific understanding of the world, the appeal of the unknown and the thrill of the supernatural remain.
