1. Pope describes the purpose of his poem as “to vindicate the ways of God to man.” What do you think he means by this?
In Pope’s poem, the main purpose of the poem was “to vindicate the ways of God to man”. This means that Pope was trying to show the ways of God to man and how man can use this role in their everyday life. As god is said to be the almighty knower of all things, he tries to bestow this knowledge upon man so man can understand the workings of life, destiny, and have the same wisdom as himself.
What would it mean to believe that “whatever is, is right?” How would that affect one’s outlook or behavior?
To believe “whatever is, is right?” is to believe and accept that whatever happens is for a reason. In Pope’s poem, he explains that man is to accept their fate and not try to change it . To Pope, each and everything in this world has a role and a purpose and it’s exactly how God wants things to be. Trying to change your fate will be like going against God and his wishes for you. This can affect one’s outlook or behavior by keeping them more at peace and also relieves the stress of trying to change things from how they are occurring. For example if one knows when and the way in which they are going to die, they will live their entire life nervous, hopeless and most likely with depression.
You could also use that to excuse behavior. Say someone was collecting money for the poor and it falls out of their pocket in front of you. Maybe it’s god’s will that you should have that money.
What would it mean to believe that “whatever is, is right?” How would that affect one’s outlook or behavior?
It would mean that whatever happen is meant to be. It’s all part of the plan for a certain scenario or problem to occur in your life. If you tried to prevent or stop it from happening, it would bring new variables into the equation that wasn’t originally there. To just accept everything as it is will cause someone to be calm but not take charge of their own life. They won’t fight against any situation they’re in even when they could change things around for the better. “Why bother? This was supposed to happen to me,” is what they might be thinking.
3. What would it mean to believe that “whatever is, is right?” How would that affect one’s outlook or behavior?
I like to have the common interpretation of the huge picture of Pope’s definition. Pope states that “Whatever is, is right.” We don’t know about what God’s plan is nor does God believe that all the worst things are happening around us is already planned. As we know it God creates us and plans everything for us before he send us to earth. As we see “Essay on Man “ God created people and he wanted them to take care of the garden, but there is a restriction for those people, if they eat the fruits they will be punished. Our cheaters make some boundaries for us and they have positive and negative effect on our lives. So when we cross boundaries, it affects our behavior.

Pope’s purpose is to shed some light on people are getting involved with the enlightenment movement. Pope goes through the whole making comparisons to science and God. Pope is trying to say that the way God made things is the way its suppose to be. Too much knowledge isn’t always great and people are pushing the envelope.
What would it mean to believe that “whatever is, is right?” How would that affect one’s outlook or behavior?
It would be easier to live if we could accept the way everything happens is the best way. However, it can also cause conflict because of differences of opinions among human being. For example, if everyone decides to act the way they want and try to establish that how God him/her wants to be, it could cause harms to others.
What would it mean to believe that “whatever is, is right?” How would that affect one’s outlook or behavior?
Pope has this believes the notion that god is the almighty. Throughout the poem Pope makes biblical references which explain that god created possibilities for us to make good and poor choices, but its the fact that god created Pope believes. When he says “whatever is, is right?” he is furthering his point that things occur in the way god intended them too.
Pope describes the purpose of his poem as “to vindicate the ways of God to man.” What do you think he means by this?
He means to justify the ways of God to man. Man is imperfect and suffered from being imperfect. Man does not have a microscope eye. This is God’s will to create the man as it is. God created things as they are supposed to be.
Choose one metaphor that Pope uses to describe the universe and explain its significance. Alexander Pope
“A Wild… ” Wild defines uncultivated or pure, which connects to how human were born and how human are supposed to be. He writes about how natures are being in universe, and he emphasizes human are also one of the nature that Gods created, Thus, wild human are supposed to be manipulated or be dyed by stressful rules. Wild could be used to define the animals, plants and all natural beings in the universe.
What would it mean to believe that “whatever is, is right?” How would that affect one’s outlook or behavior? According to Pope, what place do human beings have in the universe in relation to other creatures?
“Whatever is, is right” implies that one ought not to investigate into the way things are and question their reality because everything is as it should be. God has a purpose for all of his creatures and we are one of them. We fit into the larger scheme of things and we are not cognizant of more than what the creator wants us to know. To question our role is to risk disrupting the chain that binds the universe. This fosters an outlook that allows individuals to live passively, without questioning anything. Some would describe this outlook as being ignorant. Behaviorally, this would allow people to never question actions or end results for everything is the way it ought to be.
What would it mean to believe that “whatever is, is right?” How would that affect one’s outlook or behavior?
The saying “whatever is, is right” means everything happens for a reason. We don’t know what God’s intention is or why certain things happen to us. We should accept that everything happens for a reason and there is no changing that. So we should be happy with the result and move on in life.
3. What would it mean to believe that “whatever is, is right?” How would that affect one’s outlook or behavior?
Whatever is meant to be, will be. This is what is meant by “whatever is, is right?”. I think he just wants us to know that we can’t change destiny. That what God has plan will be, no matter what the outcome is, we don’t know only he does.
What would it mean to believe that “whatever is, is right?” How would that affect one’s outlook or behavior?
What ever happened, meant to happen. If you found $20 on the floor, it was always meant to be found by you, no go spend it. It also could mean that you are born the way you were meant to be, your the best one for the job. This could effect someones behavior because you could place your whole life on chance and think everything happens for a reason. If you get hit by a car walking across the street, you’ll say It was meant to happen. No, you could of been more careful looking both ways before crossing.
Pope describes the purpose of his poem as “to vindicate the ways of God to man.” What do you think he means by this?
I believe he meant this as to deem the ways of god to man just. It can be said that man was for from perfect and this was its fatal flaw. In the eyes of god though they were perfect as he made them how he wanted.
