I love the part of the story when Gregor’s father is yelling at Gregor to call him up to go to work and when Gregor’s father feels disgusted and angered instead of shocked and upset after he sees Gregor turned into a huge insect because this part really matches with some of the real events happening in the modern world today. I know many parents of my friends are very harsh to their children, using them as tools to earn money for the house, pushing all the responsibility of the house to their children. For instance, my parents do have some of these characteristics, they tends to give all the responsibility of the family such as asking my brother to pay for the water and electric fee, or expecting me to take care of them forever after I graduate from college. These things may not sound so harsh, but I have heard worst things from some of my friends who have worst parents than me. These high expectations from our parents is just like how Gregor’s father is treating him in the story. Gregor’s father is using Gregor as the main money source of the family (using the money Gregor works for to pay for Gregor’s sister violin lessons, pay for the groceries for the house, the rent for the house, and so on). This video shows me strongly how Gregor’s father is forcing Gregor out from the bed to go to work and how he is disgusted by Gregor when he hit Gregor with his crutch and kicking him back to the room after seeing Gregor as a bug. This video also shows how much pressure Gregor has from his work and from his family; he is basically the only person in the house who is working.  I also love how Gregor’s mind is all about his own life, his career when he turned into an insect. He is neither angered nor worried much about him turning into an insect because he had hated his life all along. And if I am in Gregor’s position, I think I will consider turning into a bug is a good thing because he is working as a slave for his family and his boss and having a life that he doesn’t want.
