Introduction

Good evening everyone, my name is Jean Joseph, I am a transfer student from Borough of Manhattan Community College. I was born in Haiti and came to New York at age of 33. All of my brothers and sisters and both of my parents lives  here . I enjoy being a New Yorker even what “ Diaspora “ was telling people are lies., that you can get money everywhere, on the trees or on the streets. As the first male member of my family to have a chance to get a associate degree in US. It means a lot to me, made me proud of myself also will not stop there and continue to achieve my goal to get my bachelor. I remembered growing up in Haiti, things wasn’t bad at all for, never get a chance to work for people, I used to have my own business and didn’t even know that was kind of like a job for me. Didn’t know the concept of being an entrepreneur, which   I was since at age of 18 years old. I started understand about jobs when I started working my first job and was totally confused and from that one job my entrepreneur mindset was starting to change and understand life, wish I should known that when I was very young. I can say that US really changed my life, I did not know what was about money, about family even friends, saving. I was in an opposite world, even about relationships, I was doing everything wrong. I thought that I could help everyone of my friends and family, I spent so much time and money, thought I could get things better and later realized life is a journey. I have to thank my parents for helping me out to get there and thank God for helping me figure out how to get things done.

Hi Jean Joseph, I find your introduction inspiring and interesting. Its inspiring to know that you were able to learn a new way of life after starting a new life in the U.S. Its also pretty interesting how you ran your own business from age 18, because that’s not something that you hear very often from people. I hope you accomplish your goals of attaining a bachelor’s degree!
