For the women characters in the story was the demon Mangago and the maid Maroya and Toyo-o’s wife Tomiko. They all have significant roles in the story but are not given names. An example of value of lack in women is when Toyo-o defeated Manago and Tomiko was released from the demon’s possession. Tomiko became ill and died and Toyo-o didn’t get ill but lived a long healthy life. The only crime that Tomiko had was her relationship with Toyo-o and was punished. Manago bewitched Toyo-o which wasn’t his fault. Manago encounter with Toyo-o he knew that she was supernatural. The second encounter he chooses to accept her excuses and be in a relationship with her. The characters in the story that will deserve a punishment is it should have been Toyo-0.
