Introductory Paragraph

Hi everyone, my name is Yessenia Guerra, I am a transfer sophomore student from City College of New York. I am very excited to be starting my Human Resources Management degree at Baruch College. A few days ago, due to the circumstances, my family (residing in my home country Ecuador) decided to make a Zoom call to celebrate my grandfather’s 90th birthday. During this amazing celebration, a surprise video was played in which many of the pictures alongside the song picked for this presentation defined exactly how special my grandfather is to everyone. As far as anyone in my family can remember my grandparents have always been present in our lives. From very little there have been moments that will stick in our memory for eternity, times spent that warm us when we most need it, stories that we’ve heard from grandpa’s childhood that will be retold, and especially the way both my grandfather and grandmother built the family in the humblest way, raising each child to reflect their example in their own families one day. “I pray every day that when our time comes, God will take us together,” said my grandma as everyone broke down in their own screen; this made an impact on me as I cannot picture this world without the presence of my first role models, both incredible souls that taught me how to be the person I am today. Alongside, made me realize that we need to enjoy every moment we have with our loved ones since nothing is eternal. We need to make sure we tell someone special how much they mean in our life before it is too late. This event definitely made a lasting impression on me as it left me speechless and unbelievably grateful for how lucky I am to have my grandparents and how proudly I carry his name.
