Yelena Zhurav

Yelena Zhuravlev works as an assistant professor adjunct and freelance writer. While at Baruch, she studied both Biology and English; in the hopes of somewhat following in Isaac Assimov’s footsteps. She went on to earn a PhD in Genetics and Development from Columbia University where she studied cytokinesis. Since her PhD and postdoc, she never forgot her love of literature that Baruch and the Sidney Harman Writer-In-Residence program helped to nurture. Yelena believes literature can change the world for the better, and hopes to do so through her writing as she continues to hone her craft. Her fiction has appeared in Flame Tree, Flash Fiction Magazine and Strange Fire: Jewish Voices from the Pandemic.
