Dani James leads Talent Marketing with a focus on Equitable Recruiting at Asana, a work management software company. Her career in marketing has spanned field marketing; demand generation; diversity, belonging, and inclusion; talent marketing; and equitable recruiting. ln 2017, Dani received the Diversity in Tech Award.
Prior to her current role, she worked at MongoDB, where she started interning while a junior at Baruch. After starting as the spring semester Events Intern, she quickly grew to support the company’s 25+ annual global events by leading marketing campaigns, writing email, social media, advertising, and blog post content, facilitating event logistics, and more.
While at Baruch, Dani was a nontraditional student and worked full-time in addition to taking classes full-time, attending her internship, and participating in America Needs You, a fellowship for first-generation college students. She graduated from Baruch with an Honors degree in English in 2016.
Dani started writing while at Baruch, taking advantage of the rich English and creative courses available. She obtained her MFA from the Writer’s Foundry at St. Joseph’s College in 2020. Return to the Place I Never Left, a memoir she translated from Flemish to English, is forthcoming in January 2025 from Wayne State University Press.
