“The Lion King” normally pulling in $1 million to $2 million every week, is about to be the first Broadway show to earn $1 billion! In April of last year, the show beat “The Phantom of the Opera” for Broadway’s all-time highest grossing show, despite opening almost ten years after it. “The Lion King” is close behind “Les Miserables” for being the fourth longest running Broadway show, with “Les Mis” closing in 2003 with 6,680 shows and “The Lion King” closing this week at 6,621.http://http://www.boston.com/ae/theater-arts/2013/10/18/the-lion-king-set-new-milestone-broadway/jquZNXD2QCH8qYZTtmBCyI/story.html

Former “Saturday Night Live” cast members Tina Fey and Amy Poehler helped boost the Award’s ratings in January to 19.7 million views. They knew a successful show when they saw one and instantly grabbed Fey and Poehler for the next two years.
