Maker Space Experience

During my maker space experience, I played with the makey makey. it had a funny name but it was actually a pretty interesting concept, and I wondered how the transference of electronic control could be used in a different circumstance. Maybe you can touch your tooth brush and it turn on the water faucet. Who knows. Overall it was an interesting, fun experience and I go to pay team Tetris!

TETRIS!

I chose to play with the makey makey unintentionally. I sat down by the table with a drawing pad, some thick pencils , bananas, a yam and a small green box. I actual though the table was for making a still life- call me old school. it was my first time using the makey makey ad wasn’t quite sure of the concept but, when it was explained to my group we jumped right in. We were able to make new controls for the online Tetris game by connecting the wires from the main control for the makey makey to conductive materials. We used tinfoil to cut out arrow shapes and a banana when that ran out. Almost anything could be used as a control.

From my experience, I learned how simple technology can be and yet be used to do something really complex. If given more time, I would probably look into that toothbrush idea, mentioned earlier in my post. Using associated household items to control each other would be an interesting concept to explore. I would also of course play with the legos. they are one of the great past times.

Here is a video of us playing with our creation:
