Wearing and Baldessari

Watching through the 50 works of Video arts I chose to discuss the work by Gillian Wearing “2 into 1” and a videotape by John Baldessari “I am making art”.
I found the “2 into 1” video kind of disturbing at first. When I first started watching it I thought that it was a woman with some form of relatedness speaking, but when her two sons came on up I realized what was going on in that work. I think its quiet interesting to watch that video even for a couple of times. It’s cool to see how one is describing themselves from somebody else’s point of view, or just moving their lips in this case. I think that video is made to maybe hear each other out, by this I mean like we are so self-centered sometimes that we might not see how we, let’s say, hurt other people or even something positive how our love affects people we give our love to.
The second video is just a guy moving and any move he makes he says “I am making art”. By this I believe he means that every new thing one does any different move they make is a form of art that from there it’s possible to go on and create more art, that art is everlasting. Most people that I meet these days they think that something is not a form of art because it’s strange or they just dislike it but this man shows that no matter how it looks like ( because the moves he did looked sort of unusual and weird at some points) it’s still art.
Both videos caught my attention even if they might seem like there’s nothing special about it, each and every video carries some sort of message within it.
