The three video strategies that Krauss discusses that I would use is mirror reflection, centering, and the split screen strategy. I would use mirror reflection when I need to show how a stimulus effects both my self-image and the image those see when looking at me. I think depending on the subject matter it would prove to provide emphasis on the cause and effect of the situation. Centering is a good strategy for providing emphisis on the middle of the screen and the lack of attention on those things around it. The splitscreen strategy is helpful when providing a process. An addition to the action would serve well when the visuals are powerful together.
I had a hard time understanding the readings but of what I understood Krauss depicted the use of camera while McLihan provided a contrast of different mediums. Not mediums in the sense of extra sensory perception like Krauss, but mediums like tv, radio, and print.
The examples I can give for hot and cold media are instagram and email. Email being the cool media due to it’s interactivity and very little given to the senses. While instagram is high definition in terms of its photography and video effects with a supplementation of captions and comments. I believe also that facetime is a hot media, it gives the senses a run for it’s money both visually and auditory as well as interactivity. While another cool media is basic text message. It is hard to define emotional context without the use of emoji’s or punctuation. It can be quite confusing when lol is not involved. I think it is even cooler than a telephone call because without the use of vocal emphasis the user is left guessing on the context of the given message. Another hot media is youtube videos with their ability to capture all senses minus smell and taste. the finger work to pick the video, the eyes see it, and the ears hear it. It works as a hot media due to its popularity and interactivity as well.
