Artist Statement

One thing that is universal for all humans are feelings. One in particular is anxiety, and with more people having these issues I wanted to dive further into it. I wanted my piece to evoke this feeling of fear, which is mostly driven by their inability to control their anxiety. I selected eerie settings that will trigger this. A lot of the shots go from a wide angle and zoom in, this is supposed to give the feeling of the room closing in. Your focus goes from a wide angle and narrows when your anxiety affects your perception; you’re frozen can’t move. Majority of the video is shot in first person, that you can imagine yourself as the person that is trapped and can’t break free. I used a darker setting in my shots to set the tone, which also played into this eerie feeling. The one beautiful thing that stands out is the deep colors that come off the objects in the shots.
