Review of Cheryl Donegan: Scenes + Commercials

Cheryl Donegan’s exhibition was a frenzied mixture of multimedia art. Her work ran the gamut of video, painting, clothing, and performance. The way the artwork was haphazardly displayed around the room made it look like you were peering into the stream of consciousness of the artist. I particularly liked her quirky video work, such as the piece where she made shamrock-shaped prints on paper using her butt as well as the mock political campaign spot. Both made me chuckle, which I did not expect to do at the exhibition. I realized that most of her work consisted of parody while considering the idea of the mediated image.
